The 3-year-old filly Bella Veneta (GB) (Belardo {Ire}) took top honours during the one-day Tattersalls Ascot November Sale on Thursday, when selling for £30,000 to Paramount Timber. Consigned by Wayne Hawkins as lot 64, the bay daughter of World Class (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) won a novice at Bath in April, and is currently rated 75. Second dam Out West (Gone West) foaled a trio of stakes winners led by G1 Derby ace Motivator (GB) (Montjeu {Ire}) and G2 Hardwicke S. hero Macarthur (GB) (Montjeu {Ire}).
Shade Oak Stud's unraced sophomore daughter of Telescope (Ire) (lot 86) brought a bid of £22,000 from Five Valley Bloodstock. Her dam is the Grade 2-winning hurdler Amaretto Rose (GB) (Alflora {Ire}), who was third in the G1 Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Rounding out the top three lots of the day was lot 68, the placed Sobegrand (GB) (Decorated Knight {GB}). Offered by Clarehaven Stables, the 3-year-old colt was knocked down to Robert Brinkley for £20,000. Out of the dual listed winner Nouriya (GB) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), the bay is a half-brother to multiple group winner Aljazzi (GB) (Shamardal) and the listed winner Majestic Noor (GB) (Frankel {GB}).
At the close of trade, of the 126 catalogued and 85 through the ring, 68 (80%) sold for an aggregate of £354,800. The average was £5,218 and the median was £2,750.
